NAIMES has been a strong and outspoken advocate for the DME industry and for independent providers since it was formed in 2007.

• Developed strong advocacy position papers on key issues facing the DME industry.
• Provided talking points and white papers on key DME issues for state leaders and NAIMES members.
• Wrote strong letters to members of Congress supporting DME issues.
• Wrote letters to CMS and other key agencies, expressing the patient concerns of independent providers.
• Distributed weekly newsletters with information and commentary to members, state association leaders, and the national trade press.
• Repeatedly responded to negative national press articles with detailed rebuttals.
• Published 20+ articles for trade and national press regarding DME advocacy and grassroots lobbying.
• Assisted with the CSIHME initiatives to stop the Ross bill HR 3220.
• Contributed to the August 2009 oxygen stakeholder's conference.
• NAIMES provides the Grassroots Legislative Support Program for members and member state associations by offering Town Hall Meeting schedules, Congressional staff updates, Congress Tracker, and actual/virtual fly-in scheduling. 
• Distributes weekly "Political Insight" leading up to 2010 national elections.
• Created the “Warriors for DME” movement as an advocacy process for DME suppliers.
• Presented “Dig Your Well Before You’re Thirsty” advocacy program at numerous state association meetings.
• Met with numerous members of Congress and their staff to present the position of the independent provider.
• Contributed to the AAHomecare New Oxygen Coalition (NOC).
• Testified before the House Small Business Committee on the repeal of competitive bidding.
• Served as a national association partner for the HME Expo & Conference 2009.
• Coordinated Capital Hill appointments for the HME Expo Lobby Day 2009.
• Moderated a panel discussion “Grassroots Advocacy, Try it You’ll Like It!” at the 2009 HME Expo & Conference.
• Participated in multiple legislative events in Washington.
• Serves on the Advisory Board for HME Business Magazine.
